My Friend Has Cancer

I have a close friend who has cancer. We’ll call her Sally. It breaks my heart. Every time I hear news that it’s come back and spread to some other part of her body, I well up with tears and am in a funk for hours afterward. This time it’s in her bones. Her very skeleton. How hard it must be to stand tall and fight when what you use to stand tall with is being attacked by cancer.

I want to help her, but feel powerless. I am not a doctor. But, after some thought, I realized what strength I do possess: the gift of research. I am very good at taking a bunch of information and finding out what’s useful for any specific inquiry. I also am good at processing lots of information and finding patterns within it.

So, Sally’s husband asks me for advice on what I know to help beat cancer. Obviously, I don’t know much about what pharmaceuticals to recommend, but I do know about natural ways to help. I don’t know for sure if drugs help and I don’t know for sure if natural remedies help. All I know is what I read and hear through my research. So, I am happy to share what I do know. I do know that any lifestyle change, wherein a person eats healthier, reduces the amount of chemicals they are exposed to in their home and environment, and lives a more active life, is better no matter what.
