For the past two years, I’ve participated in Blogathon. This year, however, the organizers are taking a break. To be honest, I am actually relieved, as I didn’t plan on participating this year.
The reason? Well, I’m sure it’s obvious, but it would probably be unhealthy to stay up for 24 hours while pregnant. I don’t know for sure and I haven’t asked my midwife, but staying awake for 24 hours straight while pregnant doesn’t sound beneficial in any way – to either me or the baby.
I’m not sure if I’ll participate in Blogathon next year, either, but I hope to. Binary Boy will be between 6-7 months old around that time next year, so I guess it all depends!
For those of you who were planning on participating in Blogathon, and want to do something in place of it, there is another event being planned by some former ‘thoners to begin at the end of this month (July) called Day of Blogs. Check it out!

I had a decent time last year with Blogathon. But my interest this year is elsewhere. I’ve had to drop a lot of stuff over the last year that I wish I hadn’t. Kids change EVERYTHING.
I’m glad you mentioned this. I’m thinking of blogging for Room to Read.
Patrick D. – Yeah, I enjoyed my time with Blogathon last year, too. Though, because of everything happening this year (baby, new house, move halfway across the country) it just wasn’t in my plans. And, yes… I hear that a lot now that we’re going to become parents soon. Yikes.
Lisa – Cool! I’ll probably sponsor a few people even though I won’t be participating. 🙂
