Shiny, Happy Baseboards

I am officially exhausted. Yesterday and today, we were having our floors finished in our condo. Kevin and I started putting them in… oh.. over a year ago, but never finished the second bedroom or baseboard molding.

Basically, by the time we finished everything but the second bedroom, we were over it. We had no desire to even look at that stack of laminate wood again, and let everything sit… and sit… and sit.

On the bright side, we did just enough to make our place livable (and wonderfully hypoallergenic thanks to 0% carpet!), but after months went by with no progress, I got really tired of living in a half-finished place. The time had come when we had to admit to ourselves that we weren’t going to finish it, so we called someone who could.

So, for the past two days, a bald man with an eye-patch (think pirate) and a friend he called “Junior” finished our flooring while Kevin and I moved furniture and got the floor cleared so they could move as fast as possible.

Good news is they did an excellent job and I am SO happy with the end result. 🙂 Bad news is the table saw they used spewed seriously large amounts of wood dust all over are balcony and through the sliding glass doors that my asthma has been the worst it’s been in over 8 months. 🙁

We’ve been sweeping and vacuuming all day and I still feel like the place is dusty, but ya know what? At least the floors are done and what that really amounts to, in my mind, is that the place is ready to either rent or sell (depending on the market) when the times comes to move out of state.

And that puts my mind at ease and makes me happy. Okay, I’m going to go collapse now. See you tomorrow – same time, same geeky channel!
