Tonight is our second night in Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand, and tomorrow afternoon we fly down to Bangkok for one more night before departing back to the US.
Today was one of the highlights of our trip so far – we visited an elephant sanctuary! They house many, many elephants ranging in age from newborns to elderly pachyderms. We were able to feed them small egg-sized bananas (literally called “egg bananas”) and sticks of sugar cane, up-close and personal! They also performed a show for us, that included the elephants playing soccer, painting, and playing darts against a human competitor from the audience. It was amazing and an experience I will remember for a long time. As usual, photos to follow when we return home!
