We saw Superman Returns last night. From the beginning credits, I knew I was going to love this movie. The credits were plucked straight from the original movies. Nice touch. From then on I knew they got it right. And they did, they got it so right.
The plot is perfect. A pseudo-love story between our favorite super hero and Daily Planet reporter is set within an epic adventure. Of course, Lex Luthor makes his appearance to stab a kryptonite thorn in Superman’s side and to create such catastrophic danger to the world that only Superman can fix it.
In addition, they cast the characters perfectly, the effects are stunning, and, most importantly, they don’t take themselves too seriously. Some of the scenes made me want to turn away and cringe, but not because they were gory, but because watching certain scenes made me want to stop what was happening. Hee.
