The title pretty much says it all.
I’ve had insomnia all my life, but it comes and goes in several-month-long cycles. The longer cycles usually show up during winter. This is a particularly bad cycle. I think I’ve slept MAYBE 8 hours in 3 days.
Part of it is the nightmares. I’m still having them. The ones where I can’t help animals who are in pain, animals who are dying, animals who are trapped where I can’t get them out. I think I’m “coping” with them by not sleeping, therefore no possibility of having them in the first place.
Paging Dr. Freud…
Gawd, I need sleep.
I’m not sure what all you’ve tried or not, but have you considered the possibility of meditation? Just before going to sleep, meditate for about 20 minutes. Nothing major, just close your eyes, and start following your breath in and out of your nostrils and notice how it feels. If your mind wanders, just gently bring it back to following your breath. I found that this simple meditation, or relaxation exercise really, calms me a lot, and allows me to sleep way more peaceful than before. Just give it a short for a week or so, it does work for a lot of people.
Cute baby btw, I bet he’s sleeping for both of you 🙂
