Babywearing

November 4, 2009

I’ve been babywearing Binary Boy since he was born. I first started with a sling, used it for about a week and decided that I didn’t really like it. Then I switched to a Mei Tai and used that for a while, but felt it wasn’t supportive enough for my back.

After doing some research and reading some blogs, I got an ERGObaby Carrier. And that is all I’ve ever used since. I am hooked! I still use it on a daily basis and especially enjoy shopping while babywearing Binary Boy. It keeps him close and I never have to worry about him if I have to leave the cart for a minute.

Ms. Babywearer herself, Stephanie, over at Adventures in Babywearing, asked for favorite babywearing photos. I only have a few, unfortunately. I will have to remedy that! However, choosing from the few that I have, here are my favorites:

She has been featuring the winners of the Sakura Bloom Triathlon contest and it’s been fascinating to read about others who practice babywearing! Go take a look. Even if you’re not into babywearing, Stephanie’s writing and photos are captivating.

I’m with Steph about the model thing and Katelin about the can’t-believe-he’s-one thing. Actually, I had been thinking about you and thinking he was probably about one (but how can that be?) but still not REALLY believing it. Smile

I admire your babywearing – it’s the right thing to do! Those months/years are such fleeting times … enjoy the closeness and bonding. My son is 14 and I so remember the closeness we had. I still try to sneak in some hugs and close touch but it’s not quite so easy when they are teens. They want it, but they don’t admit it! You have a beautiful family.

Aw! Cute pics. I have been wearing my little one in a variety of carriers since she was born. I actually took her hiking in a wrap carrier when she was jujst two weeks old. I felt better soon after she was born (not a fun pregnancy!) and it was awesome to be able to get out and about with my hands free. Now, she is 14 months old and I still love carrying her. It is easier to use my mei tai than it is to drag a stroller in and out of the car (mine is a custom creation with a lot of padding, similar to the padding on an Ergo).

Awesome photos! Congrats to you and Kevin. I always knew he’d have a great girl lift him up. He was so depressed in college.
