Halfway Point!

June 13, 2008

Today I reached my halfway point, 20 weeks or 5 months! I had my monthly appointment, as well, and everything looked “perfect” according the the midwife. 🙂

Speaking of 5 months being halfway… Has anyone really done that math on that? It’s not possible for 5 months to be half of 9 months. Really, a women is pregnant THROUGH 9 months, and on the due date, a women is hitting her 10th month or 40th week!

How come they don’t say 10 months? Hmmm!? It’s a conspiracy I tell ya! Heehee.

Though, in all honesty, I am seriously enjoying being pregnant and another month wouldn’t bother me at all. However, I am in my second trimester and it is called the “honeymoon” trimester, so hopefully I can say the same thing in two months or so. 😆

Oh, also, I’m happy to announce that I’ve gained 3.5 pounds since my last check-up. I am really relieved about that since I was worried for a while there that I wasn’t gaining enough weight.

I mean, seriously, you can’t go into labor and birth without some “reserves” or else you’ll tire out too fast. Also, as I plan to do it the “old fashioned” way, I don’t want to be tiring out and getting extra cranky because I’m underweight and hungry! I’m already going to be dealing with a number of other things, mainly the pain, because I’m not getting any help from any type of drug.

So, hopefully, I can keep it up and gain the recommended 1 pound per week, give or take in a given month. 🙂

I’m so enjoying reading your pregnancy posts. I know I don’t actually know you, but even just reading the occasional post I can’t believe you’re already halfway done with the pregnancy.

Congrats on going drug free! Please promise that after the birth you’ll give us the whole story in as much detail as you are comfortable with. I am so interested in people’s birth stories.

Awaiting a photo of your cute little one 🙂 It is nice of you to share your journey, at least when my wife gets pregnant I have a little insight of what to expect. 🙂

I was pregnant during the summer months in Austin… Advice? Go to the Barton Springs pool. A lot!

You are a much better person than I… I was a wimp and requested as many drugs as they could legally give me! 😉

Go for the epidural at least. The epidural saved my LIFE. But good luck!

Heya..
Im 31 weeks pregnant.. 9 weeks to go. YIPPIE…

going for a pool and Gas and Air… will avoid an epidural as much as poss as it takes away the whole experience of birth..

As for the 20 weeks being 5 months… remember they say 1 month = 4 weeks and 1 week = 7 days but yet this would mean EVERY month is 28 days… not true… so when your thinking of it being 20 weeks = 5 months.. take into the account the extra days.. lol..

It confused the hell outta me when i was thinking.. am i half way.. or am i not?! technically.. i was both.. i was half way.. and i was OVER half way.. weirdddd!!! hehehe

Anyhow.. have fun!!

xx
