Girl or Boy?

May 22, 2008

Girl or Boy? This is the question of the moment.

When we first found out I was pregnant, we briefly discussed deciding whether or not we wanted to find out the sex of the baby before he or she was born or wait for a surprise.

My first reaction was that I wanted it to be a surprise, but after mulling over it some more, I’ve decided that I really want to know. Besides, Kevin wanted to know, as well as the rest of our families, and if they knew, it was only going to be a matter of time before they let something slip. 😉

Since my prenatal care is with a birthing center, they don’t provide high tech ultrasounds, so they refer you to a nearby perinatal specialist to make an appointment. All they require is that I be at least 18 weeks. I will be 18 weeks at the end of this month.

So, yesterday, I made an appointment to find out the sex of our baby. Now, the countdown begins to June 5th!

We wanted to know the gender both times — wanted to choose names, buy some baby clothes, etc. Well, I did anyway. I’m excited for you! And I love the pic. 🙂

I made Doc Doe check on Eve about a zillion times before she arrived. I just wanted to make sure she was Eve and not Adam.

Adam, I could read that ultrasound myownself.

Appartently it depends a lot on your diet if you have a really varied one you have more chance of having a boy (only by about 7%).

It’s worth knowing so at the baby shower the gifts are useful!

It is so great to carry a baby. My sincere congrats and warm wishes to you. When I was pregnant I was made an ultrasound several times but till the very birth noone could 100% say if it is a girl or a boy, she started hiding all the signs of gender when realized we were looking at her inside me:)

Very exciting! Personally I’m all for being surprised, but my fiance says he wants to know ahead of time. I guess there’s lots of time for us to discuss this as we’re not going to be trying to get pregnant for at least a year.
