In a Nutshell
Blogathon is a blogger-based campaign to raise money for various charities. Participating bloggers will blog for 24 hours straight from July 29 6:00 am PST until July 30 6:00 am PST. In addition to myself, hundreds of bloggers from around the world will put their endurance to the test for charity, blogging every 30 minutes for those 24 hours.
For this, they collect pledges from sponsors for their chosen charity. Pledges can be a flat donation, or a certain amount for every hour the blogger manages to stay awake. Most bloggers have a contest, incentive or offer interactive blogging for their readers. Read below for mine.
How to Sponsor Me
If you’re willing and able to sponsor me in Blogathon 2006 by pledging to donate to Best Friends Animal Society, I would first like to thank you very much! Your support is greatly appreciated. Click the button below to sponsor me:
- You’ll be given the option to sign up or log in. Fill in your info to sign up. (all that is needed is a user name, email and password)
- Choose how much you’d like to sponsor me for in a lump sum dollar amount.
- Decide how you’d like to appear on the site, and to me. You can be completely open, or completely anonymous. Either way, your email address is never published on the site. See Blogathon.org’s privacy policy for details.
- Once the sponsorship form is submitted, you’ll receive an email with a verification link for you to click.
- Watch the Blogathon event here! Well, as much as you can stay up for.
- After the event, you’ll receive two reminders directing you to my charity to fulfill your pledge. If you have already donated, just disregard the email.
Sponsor Badges
Copy these badges to your hard drive if you are one of my sponsors! Please link back to https://binaryblonde.com so others may find their way here and hopefully sponsor me, as well.
My Charity
100% of the pledges you make go to Best Friends Animal Society, the largest animal sanctuary in the United States. Best Friends is working with you — and with humane groups all across the country — to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets.
The sanctuary, at the heart of Southern Utah’s Golden Circle of national parks, is home, on any given day, to about 1,500 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and other animals. And Best Friends reaches across the nation, helping humane groups, individual people, and entire communities to set up spay/neuter, shelter, foster, and adoption programs in their own neighborhoods, cities, and states.
You can be sure that your donation makes it to Best Friends Animal Society because you will be donating directly to the charity. At Blogathon, you are only pledging that you will donate to Best Friends Animal Society. At the end of Blogathon, you will be emailed a reminder to go to the Best Friends Animal Society website and donate directly to them.

Official Rules
From Blogathon.org
- Each participant must update every 30 minutes for the 24-hour period beginning on July 29, 2006, at 6:00 AM Pacific Time. Everyone blogs during the same 24-hour period. For example, if you are blogging from Paris, France, you would begin at 4:00 pm (1600). In Sydney, Australia, you would begin at 11:00 pm (2300). You need not update right on the half-hour, so don’t panic about exactitude. Just be sure you’re updating once about every 30 minutes.
- We lock down on July 21. No profile changes will be allowed after this date, so be ready.
- Your blog must be available to the public.
- If you have script on your page that breaks your site out of frames, you must remove it before you sign up.
- Don’t use an update script or other trick so you can go to bed and still blog. You must be awake and participating in person.
- You are required to have fun.
This year’s Blogathon will begin at 6:00 am Pacific Time on Saturday, July 29. So, mark your calendars! To recap, the charity I am blogging for is Best Friends Animal Society. Sponsor me!
