Best Friends NOLA Super Adoption

February 13, 2006

NOLA Best Friends Animal Society Super AdoptionThe NOLA Super Adoption was very successful and, considering the abnormally cold weather, there was a pretty good turnout. Usually, I work behind the scenes at the Los Angeles Super Adoptions, so this was a big change of pace for me.

Mark, Linda and I were the three people in the Cats section that were screening and able to approve potential adopters, so there was a lot of situations that were new for me. There were a few people that I had no problem turning down, but most people were great and I felt very comfortable approving them to take home one of our kitties.

All the normal attractions were present: other animal organizations, a face painter (who created a spitting image of Noni on my face!), food (local favorites like veggie jambalaya, corn on the cob, bread pudding and pie), music and fun giveaways.

As for numbers, the total number of adoptions for each department were quite impressive: Cats: 21 (about 60% of adoptable cats) and Dogs: 47. All departments did a great job and everyone pitched in to make it an event to remember! It was, after all, New Orleans first ever Best Friends Super Adoption.
