Pockets of Reality

November 16, 2005

I’m here at my mothers house, using her laptop and wireless connection and am glued to craigslist and the NOLA.com forums. I so want to go back. In my head, I’m trying to figure out a way I can go back without spending so much. Maybe I can find a really cheap flight and have someone at base camp pick me up in New Orleans. They did that for two other people while I was there. I bet if I let them know I need to keep costs really low they’d find someone who could pick me up and drop me off at the N.O. airport.

I know they’ll probably need people around the holidays and since I don’t celebrate Christmas, it wouldn’t be a big deal to spend it over there, helping out.

It is almost like an obsession.. Eric is back and Cat went twice, as well. I just NEED to go back. I feel like I have unfinished business over there. So weird, huh?

Anyway, more denial tonight… in-between these pockets of reality I read about and yearn to be a part of. Mom, George and I are watching a midnight showing of the newest Harry Potter movie, and heading to dinner first. Should be sufficient enough to keep my mind off of Louisiana… right?

DDR: Mario MixEdit: 12:56 am – Oops, scratch that! Apparently, the movie theater’s computer system was wonky and it will be showing FRIDAY day/night at 12:01 am, not Thursday night. D’oh. But, the night was still young, so we grabbed some coffee and headed back to their house where they introduced me to Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. I beat the game in 45 minutes flat (on easy mode). Too much fun! And tomorrow I’ll head back up to meet them to watch Harry Potter, for real this time.
